Beautiful campsite. Went there for long weekend so was quite busy but still plenty of room. Lovely river, tried to fish but could not find anything but others there said they caught trout that morning. Would visit again just for the river alone! Just watch out for snakes hiding in the dunes around the river

I have never owned a 4x4, I love the Howqua River, my first visit was 1972. And then still go back. I prefer during the week and not school holidays. Such a beautiful part of our country. I steer clear from the high country in bushfire season because when fires occur on the Howqua you have very little chance to exit the area. A week or two after the school holidays is usually good apart and rubbish here and there. People like me generally take home a bag or three. Too many people don’t respect our beautiful country and it’s getting worse. by Martin T.
