Newnes campground

32 Ratings

No vehicle access! It's a long, roughly 10km walk to reach Newnes campground. The campground is walk-in only because Wolgan Road has collapsed and there's a landslip risk at Wolgan Gap. Wolgan Road was the only vehicle access into the valley and is managed by Lithgow Council.

Absolutely stunning. It’s a must go! Spent the morning doing the glow worm walk and the afternoon drinking beers in the river.

Beautiful primitive campground with drop toilets and campfires. Stunning scenic backgrounds and a great base for 4wd trails

You can usually but there might be a fire ban when you go. Make sure to check before you plan your trip. I’d also bring my own firewood as the shop doesn’t always stock it. by Casey F.
