Newnes campground
No vehicle access! It's a long, roughly 10km walk to reach Newnes campground. The campground is walk-in only because Wolgan Road has collapsed and there's a landslip risk at Wolgan Gap. Wolgan Road was the only vehicle access into the valley and is managed by Lithgow Council.
I went there on Friday (a day before Australia Day), so it was full with campers. Very relaxing and close to nature. I highly recommend this campsite for all it has to offer. You can choose to sit back, enjoy a cold beer and enjoy the scenery or go hiking in the bush. There is a creek very close to the campsite but it was very shallow when I went there. So, don’t expect to go for swim when you are there. Two pit toilets located on each side. Don’t forget to take plenty of water as there is no supply of water. Overall, you will fall in love with this place.
