Beautiful area for camping and great for kids. There is a big fenced off area in the centre of the camp area which is fenced off and no camping, which is great for the kids to play in. Beautiful walk to the top of Mount Franklin. This area can get very busy.
Camped here a few times. Free and close to Dayelsford and Castlemaine. Some of the camp sites are fitted out with bbqs.
Went in winter of 2017, wildlife was great, area long old natural and clean. Plother visitors were friendly and respectful. Ranger comes to check up and offer assistance regularly. Walking trails were nice. It rained while we were there and the pine smelled lovely!
Great campsite nested in the crater of an ancient volcano, surrounded by a perimeter of large pine trees. There are basic toilets, fire bbq’s and rainwater available.
