If you don’t have a 4WD do not attempt after rain - it was semi dry when we came through and very corrugated with dips of mud. There’s about a 4km strip from the pinpoint along the river with heaps of different campsite, lots of room so you’re never parked up right next to someone (unless it’s a busy weekend). Fires allowed and pet friendly, and only about 30 minutes to Onslow (expensive to shop and fuel up at but a nice little town - the pub is great for a feed and drink) No facilities, a bar or two or Telstra/Optus depending where you are. And a great free camp to stop at for a few days to refresh whether you’re headin north or south :) Warning; not many crocs have been sighted but there have been confirmed sightings in the river so just be vigilant when fishing/allowing your furry friends down by the bank.
