Nice spot and easy to get in from the south. We arrived after 4:30 and was guided by Tom to our site remotely. Great facilities at the office. Mike is very knowledgeable on traveling Australia. Don’t... Read more
Revising my earlier review after a sleepless night. The cabin was connected to 2 others and rattled and shook with every movement. Then the aircon came on with compressor just other side of wall to wh... Read more
I was welcomed on the day by Mikey who has a great sense of humour and lots of information about how to get the most out of travelling. The site is neat, on the edge of the river with fishing spots set up, but also close to the highway. I decided to get a cabin for the night rather than set up my tent. It was more sheltered from the traffic noise and very reasonable at $65.
Stayed here for one night, was a bit creeped out by the manager and seemed like there were many backpackers who were almost trapped there in pretty permanent tent set ups. Will stay elsewhere in Mackay in the future as it was a weird night and right on the highway and train line so not a good night sleep either.
