Discover the Charm of Illaroo Campground Nestled along the unspoiled sands of Sandon Beach in the breathtaking Yuraygir National Park, Illaroo Campground is a coastal retreat that invites you to slow down and soak in nature’s beauty. Shaded by native trees and accessible via sealed, all-weather roads, it’s the perfect getaway for campers seeking tranquility and natural wonders. Explore the surrounding bushland teeming with local flora and fauna, or take a leisurely 1 km stroll or drive to the charming Mini Waters General Store. There, you’ll find everything from delicious homemade pies and sausage rolls to freshly brewed coffee—ideal for refueling after a morning beach walk. Most campsites feature their own firepit, and free gas BBQs are available for communal use. While there are no showers or powered sites, fresh drinking water is provided for your convenience. Whether you're falling asleep to the sound of the waves or gathering around a campfire under the stars, it's almost impossible not to fall in love with Illaroo Campground.
Nice place, great family-friendly beach to swim at. Firepit was included! Stayed in site 22 which was lovely as it had bush/trees that separated us from most of our neighbours. I recommend not booking... Read more
We stayed in a lovely and large tent-only site in the Southern section overlooking the ocean. Most sites have a picnic table and a fire pit which was useful. Fire wood was available to purchase for $10 per bag (cash). The tent larger sites had lots of grass which was a nice change for us. There is a short 1km bush walk to Minnie Waters village where there is a great general store where you can get food before 2.30pm, beer, wine, coffee, snacks and general supplies. There is also a playground in the village. The pit campground toilets were very smelly and often messy and the water was not suitable for drinking.
