This is a man-made dam that used to feed the Rylstone cement works, which is long gone now. It is wonderful for swimming, canoeing, fishing, or just walking amongst the huge pagoda rock formations and taking some wonderful photos of the wildlife. The site is managed by National Parks, who provide a truck load of fire wood each Friday afternoon ready for the weekend crowds. Toilets are clean long drop - the rangers even use leaf blowers a couple of times a week to keep them clean. No water, other than dam water, so boil it if you wish to use the water for cooking or drinking. It is fine for use in your caravan’s shower. Fires are fine, as long as you use the provided steel rings. The area is divided into tent camping, with separate areas and bays for camper vans and caravans. Cost is by self registration at the info sign and was $6.00 per person, per night in October 2018. I have camped here twice for a few days each time. It can get very busy on weekends so mid-week is recommended. There is also some good, easy to moderate bush walking in the area too. For the keen photographer, climb up to the Pagoda Lookout. The views are spectacular, but wear shoes with good grip. Some of the climb is on the edge of pagodas with a cliff edge drop, if you are not careful. There are warning signs at the beginning of the track. Overall, this is a great camp site with plenty of birds, kangaroos and possums.

Great spot, take your kayaks and they will be well used. A lot of Bollards but camping next to car possible. Close camping quarters with others. Pay on arrival with honesty box system.
Nice spot. Very cold in winter
