Newnes campground
No vehicle access! It's a long, roughly 10km walk to reach Newnes campground. The campground is walk-in only because Wolgan Road has collapsed and there's a landslip risk at Wolgan Gap. Wolgan Road was the only vehicle access into the valley and is managed by Lithgow Council.
I really really enjoyed this campsite. The views are spectacular and the amenities were well kept. There a few fire pits and picnic tables available. Some of the fire pits are missing the fire plates. The recent storms have washed away a lot of the soil for the roads. It can be quite bumpy especially if you’re in a 2wd, so be cautious. With the storms all the bush walks were closed. Unsure how long it will be until they open again.
