The area on the north side of Lake Lonsdale foreshore consists of different campground (Elliot, area east of boat ramp, Flat Rock, Diggers Rest-Sandbar). It is not clear from Google map when you're trying to find the right spot (but it it will lead you to the boat ramp). There is a compostable toilet by the boat ramp, one large recycling skip, and waste skip (so please sort out your waste in the right bin). Great views over the Grampians, possibility to kayak on the reservoir or swim, with all the areas dedicated for camping, there will be plenty of spaces to choose from. Quietly removed from nearest road and so the area will be as quiet as the crowd who's there. It would be a starting point to visit the Grampians or break a trip between Adelaide-Melbourne. The area is managed by GWM Water: https://www.gwmwater.org.au/using-lakes-and-reservoirs/our-reservoirs/lake-lonsdale

Beautiful quiet spot. We stayed overnight in a camper (2adults, 1 6month old and a dog) and it was fantastic! I wish we could have stayed a few days!

Plenty of decent spots near the in good view of lake. Quiet area only saw another family 200m from our own patch of tranquility.

Such a gorgeous spot! We stayed for one night in our camper trailer and enjoyed walking along the lake with the dogs. It would be good for swimming especially with kids as the water is pretty clear and the sandbar goes out a long way. There are drop toilets that were pretty good & large bins available. They have fire pits which were awesome and plenty of firewood can be collected around the site. It says to have your dogs leashed at night on the sign on the way in and we figured out that’s because there are rabbits that come out at dusk. The boat ramp looks okay but you might run out of ramp & go onto sand as the water is pretty low at the moment. Lovely views of The Grampians, will be back here again some day!
